Perianal Abscess:

Any patient who harbours a fissure-in-ano is at risk of developing infection in it resulting in a perianal abscess.
There is sudden onset of sever throbbing pain with inability to sleep at night. There is fever and malaise.
The patient finds it difficult to sit.
There may be a discharge of pus from the affected area.
