Fistula –in –ano:
All of us are familiar with skin boils on the body which rupture and heal spontaneously. However boils (abscesses) in the anal area often start as an infection in a preexisting fissure. After spontaneous rupture as seen sometimes in small and superficial boils or surgical drainage by an operation, these boils will reform due to the connection with the inside of the anal canal. The patient will experience a throbbing pain and swelling which then leaks out pus with a dramatic relief of pain. Such cycles will repeatedly occur till the case is diagnosed as a fistula and cured by surgery.
